Steve Hartlett started Stove last year after Ovlov broke up for a time. The Connecticut band’s break-up didn’t stick (as per usual) and they’re back to making new music and playing shows, but Stove is still soldiering on as its own project. The band is following up last year’s clamoring debut full-length Is Stupider with a new EP called Is A Toad In The Rain, which will initially only be available on their upcoming tour Mannequin Pussy. But “Graduate And Congratulate” is an early sneak peek at where Stove is headed, and it’s a lot less noisy and abrasive than what they’ve put out before. It’s placid and textural and downright chill, and the video features Hartlett getting groomed in a backyard and staring mutedly into the camera. Watch and listen below.
