PILE ANNOUNCE MIDWEST TOUR DATES WITH FAT HISTORY MONTH + MORE
PILE EXPAND LINE-UP WITH THE RETURN OF MATT BECKER
Pile will take a break from the writing sessions for their upcoming album this March as the band hit the road with friends and Boston favorites, the ever amazing Fat History Month. Sharing a musical chemistry that will leave audiences stunned and shouting for more, the tour will kick off in Northampton, MA before heading to the Midwest and eventually winding its way back to the riotous basements of Allston, MA for a truly special homecoming show. The feedback and general reaction to Pile’s last run through the Midwest was so overwhelmingly positive, the band had to make their triumphant return. Pile will also play a handful of shows leading up to the tour along the East Coast; complete dates can be found below. The band’s restless touring schedule will continue this spring as the band have begun preparations to hit the road again in April/May before entering the studio.
We’re excited to announce that Pile expanded their line-up in January to include guitarist Matt Becker. Those familiar with the band will recognize Becker as Pile’s original bassist who performed on the band’s flawless sophomore effort Magic Isn’t Real and the Big Web 7” (recorded during the same sessions) before leaving the band for family obligations. Pile are thrilled to welcome Becker back into the fold as a guitarist, joining singer/guitarist Rick Maguire for a two headed assault of creative tunings, dirty inspired melodies, and brilliantly tangled riffs. Together with the stampeding rhythm section of drummer Kris Kuss and bassist Matt Connery, the band sound bigger than ever, bursting with the type of infectious energy that can turn any audience rowdy.

See what the critics are saying…
“The next time Pile comes through town, it would be in your best interest to come out. They are something particularly special and worthy of your listening time and have the capabilities to captivate audiences of different archetypes with the same vigor of their own genre. They deserve a sold-out house…” – Creative Loafing: Charlotte
“Maguire's dense amp tone paired well with Matt Connery's slightly-fuzzed-up bass sound. Drummer Kris Kuss created huge sounds out of his standard four-piece kit. His sense of feel balanced his impressively precise technique, which anchored the magnificent noisiness of the more challenging songs of the set … The crowd dug it. So did this first-timer.” – Charleston City Paper
“Pile has surpassed the boundaries of conventional post-punk and alternative to create a mood all their own.” – Dig Boston
“…one of their openers, Pile, melted faces too…” – A Record Every Single Day

Boston post-punk favorites Grass Is Green are poised to create a splash in 2012 with the release of their magnificent third album Ronson. After spending 2011 opening for the likes of Melt Banana, Tera Melos, Joe Lally (Fugazi), and DD\MM\YYYY, the band have established themselves as one of Boston's absolute best live bands on any given night and the time has come to take the nation by storm. The highly anticipated record's twelve tracks are dynamic as they are powerful, and the album is crafted with brilliant pacing and fury. Their longest and most developed record in their already stellar catalog will be released on March 1st 2012, but you can stream the album's first single "Nice Guy of the Year Award" below for a taste of what's to come.
The album will be available as a limited edition [only 500 copies] CD through Exploding In Sound Records, sold exclusively at Grass Is Green concerts and on tour. The digital is available to pre-order through their Bandcamp page courtesy of GHouse. Boston residents will get their first chance to grab a CD at the band's album release show, March 1st at Great Scott. Arvid Noe, Speedy Ortiz, and Sneeze will join in the celebration that you most certainly don't want to miss.
Stay tuned for complete tour dates as the band prepare to hit the road leading the way down to SXSW! Much more details to come shortly. In the meantime, let "Nice Guy of the Year" swirl around in your ears for a bit.
